Before choosing to homeschool my children, I read various homeschool reviews. Most of the parents' experiences that I read about helped me understand the freedom that comes with expanding your child's curriculum further than just the 4-5 mandatory core subjects.

Of the homeschool reviews I read, one of the more interesting ones was about a mother who integrated a home-based business into her child's education.

As she reflected on her homeschooling experience, she said that her child was intellectually well-rounded thanks to this learning. She believed it helped give her child the skills need to thrive in an ever-changing economy.

Job security is becoming rare. The enduring mentality is that after you go through college or trade school, you can expect to get a job right away. Most people believed that once you got the job, you tended to stay there. However, this hasn't been the case for most people in this day and age.

As I read homeschool reviews, I learned that people chose the homeschooling approach to help give their children the best education possible.

In a homeschool setting, top education is strived for, but also helping children become successful and confident is another factor.

In public and even private schools, children usually aren't even exposed to business courses--never mind the concept of starting your own business. This homeschooling mother recognized this.

If you want to be a mom who works from home and homeschool too, you can do it; and maybe even more efficiently with help from your children. You can teach them how to start up and maintain there own home-based business.

I found this extremely fascinating. Not only is there the potential to earn extra money through your own business, you could encourage your children to save up for their own future.

The money is a perk, but consider the invaluable lessons learned along the way. Imagine having a child who knows how to budget her money, understands how business taxes work, knows about advertising and relegating tasks to others?

All of these are lessons that will help your children build financial security for the rest of their lives.

Without those homeschool reviews, I never would have thought of combining homeschooling with teaching a child to run a business. Your child could come up with a great product, a solution, or a marketing idea that takes off. It's a great way to help your child understand the free market economy.

You could assign your child to research a product and let them come up with marketing strategies. They might even learn something about the existing competition.

I agree with the homeschooling mother who discovered that learning how to run a home business is a great way to supplement homeschool curriculum.
