Model railroading enthusiasts enjoy only one thing more then showing off their pride and joy: seeing other prototypes and displays that they can then go back home to compete with! After getting all your supplies together you need to form your terrain, which is often done by placing foam spacers and carving them to achieve the desired results, then coating those with a plaster, fiberglass or other sealer to harden them. Wireframe models with reinforcement are also used on larger landscapes, while some 'purists' will actually haul in stone, dirt and sand in an attempt to make a 'true' world.

Landscaping and picking out the scenery can be one of the more fun things that you can do with your model railroads. You are the person who gets to decide just how you want it to look.

Model railroading and prototyping is a wonderful hobby that doesn't really require that anyone share in it with you " but the enjoyment of seeing others reactions to your special diorama or the ability to pose questions on specifications and historical references to a group of friends for many causes them to seek out other like-minded enthusiasts.
